It’s that time of year again! It’s the 2010 CLEAA Conference!

Save the date for the CPD event of the year and come join the fun with colleagues for some ‘Good Learning’ at the annual CLEAA Conference and first ever National CPD Summit to be held at Luna Park in Sydney on Thursday, 28 October & Friday, 29 October 2010.  

The first morning of the Conference  is being structured as a National CPD Summit with the aim of bringing together a range of stakeholders in CPD, not just CPD practitioners, to consider the role and purpose of Continuing Professional Development:  “Are current approaches to CPD keeping pace with the needs of the Australian legal profession, or are new or improved approaches needed to help equip legal practitioners to meet the demands and opportunities of legal practice in the 21^st century?”.  People can attend the Summit at no charge so invite your boss or CPD champion to join you at what promises to be an interesting and important discussion. 

The CLEAA Conference proper will start at lunchtime Thursday and continue on Friday. The general program theme is ‘Good Learning’, good learning for lawyers and good learning for CPD/L&D practitioners. Some of the topics include

·         What makes a good learning culture?
 ·         How do law firms organise themselves for good learning?
·         Developing lawyer leadership and resilience capabilities 
·         How to make learning ethics interesting and effective
·         What is the difference between information and education and does the difference matter for CPD? and
·         Do we need voluntary standards or a code of conduct for CPD providers?   

Also, gear yourself up to help celebrate 30 years of CLEAA at the Conference dinner at Luna Park, 6pm to 9pm on 28 October. There will be opportunities to acknowledge special contributions to CPD and special CPD practitioners.   The final program and registration details will be out shortly but put the date in your diary now.
